Your posts should be of substance. There should be at least two paragraphs that address the topic. Use APA format for any quotations or citations you use to support your answer.
PROFESSOR RESPONSE
Uber is just a more convenient form of a taxi ride which has been around since the beginning of the 20th Century. Libraries have been with us since the mid 1800’s. Are we just re-labelling something that has been around for many years (ie. borrowing/renting) and dressing it up with technology?

Discussion topic 2
The importance of keeping the environment clean and taking care of our planet has been a growing topic over the past decade. The younger generation strives to create more sustainable ways of doing things, and one of those things is finding a way in order to dispose of used products in the safest way. Many studies have come out that plastic takes years to decompose, “Plastics can take anywhere from 20 to 500 years to decompose, depending on the material and structure” (Chariot Energy, 2021). Though the decomposing process takes so long and plastic has accumulated in oceans and landfills, we still need plastic in our daily life. One example I found was baby diapers, every parent needs them but it takes one diaper 500 years to decompose, crazy! (Chariot Energy, 2021). Every product uses plastic in some sort of way, so in order to keep the environment clean (and have the younger generation buy their product) companies have had to adjust their packaging as well as their marketing scheme. An example of this is Tide, a very common household name but has never been known to be environmentally friendly. But since the rise in importance of environmental friendliness within consumers they have adjusted their ads to now inform customers to switch to cold water. This ad below shows how switching to cold water will help save the environment, will in turn draw in consumers.

PEER 2
Discussion Topic #1: I have a fair bit of experience with Airbnb and Uber, the concept itself would have been outrageous over a decade ago but here we are participating in these concepts that make up a shared economy. I would argue that companies like Uber, Airbnb, and Turo, are here to stay and here’s why; all of these ideas offer individuals more affordable options that cater to many different lifestyles. Uber offers a taxi service that aids in decreasing the frequency of lethal car accidents due to drinking and driving, Uber also offers a service that supports people who may live somewhere where vehicles aren’t needed as much like NYC and on certain occasions where further travel is needed they can Uber.
Airbnb is a great service that I partake in at least twice a year, it gives individuals the opportunity to stay places outside the realm of hotels and other options. Airbnb typically is more affordable than a hotel room in a lot of situations and you can stay in places where a hotel room would be extremely expensive for more than half the price, for example I went to stay in downtown Miami for my 21st birthday and almost every Airbnb was significantly cheaper than every hotel room in the area.
Turo is a car service that allows individuals to rent cars from other individuals, If I wanted to take a trip to Texas I could rent lets say Jons car directly from him instead of having to go through a rental car company. Turo also allows for a larger variety of cars to rent from cheap to luxurious, I have seen people use Turo to rent a specific car for a day that they are looking to buy just to see what life is like driving that specific vehicle.
These companies have created hundreds of thousands of jobs worldwide and that’s a huge reason why I think they are here to stay, “Uber is responsible for directly creating 20,000 new jobs per month and powering billions in economic impact in cities around the world—while also improving the environment, reducing DUI rates and fueling the urban environment.” (Eadicicco, 2014). The concept of sharing assets continues to gain popularity especially with the new ways of life we are experiencing due to the pandemic, these companies allows us to live flexibly while creating an impact.
